Hello friends and fellow ostomates

My name is Bob, I’m 71 years old. Having a stoma has changed my life for the better after having Colitis for 20 plus years. I had my operation in 2004 and have never looked back, my wife Hazel said it has changed our lives. Within 12 months of my operation we toured the U.S.A /Canada and have had several holidays since. There is a myth that going on a plane your bag blows up but believe me that is wrong.

My main hobby is walking up hill and down dale in all weathers up to 12 miles on a good day, please try walking it makes you feel good with fresh air in your lungs and you never know what you can find and see.

Just to prove having a stoma is not a problem, several weeks ago whilst 950ft up a big hill I fell from the top of a 6 ft style, landed on my face and stomach, hitting a big rock with my head resulting in a cut face, bruised shoulder and stomach. My bag didn’t come off. I still managed a two mile walk to the bus stop! I’m glad to say I’m fully recovered apart from my cheek bone, so I’m off walking again tomorrow. I do my walking on my own, the main reason I’m doing this is to encourage you all to get out and enjoy this lovely weather, if I can do it I’m sure you can. You don’t have to go mad just go for a walk with a friend or join a group. If you ever want a chat please contact abiggerlife.com and they can send me a message. Enjoy Life, I do!

All the very best Bob
