A few tips –
If your pouch does not normally cause you problems and you have recovered from your surgery there is no reason why you cant enjoy swimming. Its a great form of exercise.
If you are worried about how the pouch will cope with the swimming pool – start off slowly- 15 – 20 minutes- just paddle around or float. Gain your confidence.
If you were an accomplished swimmer before you had your stoma formed there is no reason that you cannot get back to that level of fitness, increase slowly – listen to your body stop if it hurts.
You don’t need a special swimsuit – they can be really expensive – look at the swimsuits which are available in the local stores – a patterned suit or one with ruffles/design.
