Work uniform

Hear from Kate, a community stoma care nurse.

From A Bigger Life

If you wear a uniform to work, you might need to make a few adjustments for when you go back to work after stoma surgery.

You might need to get a different size.

So don’t leave it until the last minute to check if your uniform fits as this may cause you more stress.

You might need to ask for some spare sets to accomodate for potential leaks.

For women, you may be more comfortable wearing maternity trousers with a large elasticated waist rather than a zipped or buttoned closure wasitband.

If your uniform doesn’t accmmodate for your stoma bag speak to your manager or Human Resources team to see if there are alternatives or adjustments that can be made.
