From A Bigger Life

Diet is one of the main concerns people have and talk about following surgery. If you have a colostomy you don’t need to follow a special diet, but just like anyone else, some foods may cause wind or just not suit you. You can start to reintroduce your normal diet routine slowly. If you think a particular food is causing problems, try cutting it out for 2 weeks, then reintroduce it into your diet. Which foods affect you depends very much on your current diet and your own digestive system. Experiment and enjoy!

You want to avoid small things like nuts, mushroom, sweetcorn and coconut. Where possible it is best to eat a low fibre diet and stick to bland foods at the beginning.
